Alleviating Back Pain

Back pain is one of the most common issues for people to develop as they get older. Most of the time, unless there has been a specific injury to the back, the core tends to be the main contributing factor. We all hear about how an under active core can lead to back pain, but is that really it? Not at all! More and more I am seeing people developing back pain stemming from other muscle imbalances in their hips and legs that lead to poor posture, compensations, and loss of proper gateway movement.

With most people being stuck at home and stagnant, stretching and mobility has never been more crucial to help alleviate back pain. Although a strong core is a great foundation for decreasing your pain level, stretching the hips and legs will assist in the process as well. For example, when you have a more under active core. and your hips and legs are tight, it can pull on the pelvis and cause an unnatural arch of the back which will lead to back pain. Training your core to counteract the pulling of your legs is a great start, but foam rolling and stretching your quads and hips will expedite the rest of the process as well and get you out of pain sooner.
